Barrier information and general opening
times.
Access Height Barrier
Since the introduction of the three height barriers in Ferry
Meadows there has been some confusion about why they exist
and what the general policy is. Hopefully this should help
to clarify the situation.
The barriers were installed to prevent
unauthorised encampments which in the past have cost the
Trust a great deal of time and money to remove. The
incidents have also lead to distress and complaints from
members of the general public and businesses operating
within the park.
The maximum height for vehicles wishing to
pass under the barriers is 2.1 metres which is an industry
standard measurement. It is the responsibility of the driver
to know the height of their vehicle and if there is any
doubt assistance should be sought.
The following over-height vehicles are
allowed access by calling the duty ranger on 07860 308081.
-
Cars with cycles or roof boxes on top
-
Horseboxes
-
Legitimate deliveries to concessionaires
-
Coaches
and minibuses
-
Cars towing or carrying water sports equipment
that is to be used at Lakeside Leisure
-
Vehicles which
display a current disabled pass
-
People connected to
authorised events held with the trusts knowledge.
People requesting for the barrier to be
opened should be aware that a ranger may not always be in
the vicinity and therefore there may be a delay in gaining
access or exit.
Any other vehicles including cars towing
caravans, motor homes and commercial vehicles which are not
on official business may park at Orton Mere and walk back to
the park which should take about twenty minutes.
If you have any further questions ask a
ranger or send an email to
rangers@nene-park-trust.org.uk
